VJ Contest

Kyiv Lights Festival, Carbon Community, and VJUA are announcing a VJ contest.

The contest will take place within the KLF VJ Platform at the 13th Pavilion art residence at VDNG on May 19, 2018.

The contest’s format is a VJ battle, a live media performance with two VJs per set demonstrating their skills in using media art tools.

Please add links to videos of your previous work to your application. The submission deadline is April 20.

Additional housing opportunities are available for international and local artists from out-of-town. Free accommodation will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis for those accepted to the contest. Send your request by e-mail: carbon.residence@gmail.com

The contest pool includes a 13000uah prize for the winner and VJ software products as rewards for second and third places.

Ricardo Cancado

VJ Eletroiman - has been working with VJing, stage design and Video Mapping since 2000. He is a member of such creative groups as TkLab, Telenoika and is one of the founders of Darklight studio. Having won VJ Torna (world VJ championship) for 10 times, he is also a finalist of 18 video art competitions around the world. http://vjeletroiman.com/

Niculin Barandun

Swiss media artist who works at the juncture of art, science, technology and design using software programing. He is the organizer of VJ Battle in Switzerland at the Queen Fish Festival 2015, 2016 in Baden. Niculin is a member of VJ-Torna VJ-Battle, Jury at LPM-Live Performance Meeting, Eindhoven 2014. https://nicul.in/

Volodymyr Gulich

Artist working with various materials and techniques. He is one of the founders of the largest international symposium of contemporary art in Ukraine, "Biruchi", which takes place on the coast of Azov Sea. Volodymir is a member of ArtZebs Creative Group, a winner of the Live Mapping Contest 2017 in Amsterdam and finalist at the Berlin Light Festival 2017. http://artzebs.com.ua/

Yaroslav Kostenko

VJ Yarkus - Ukrainian media artist, who works with 3D graphics and interactive video installations. He is a member of the international art residences and festivals, the winner of LPM Live Mapping Contest 2017 Amsterdam, Mapping Tournament 2017 - Mexico, Guadalajara, Kyiv Light Festival, Live Mapping Contest 2017, Art Vision Contest 2014. Simona Noera

aka m0rf [von Kinocirkus] is a VJ formerly from Rome who started in 2005 as a video editor during her Communication studies & quickly turned to visual performances in 2007. She is involved in video mapping, visual installations, stage and content creation. Co-manager of the KinocirKus platform (since 2010), she is also mixed up in the organization of the Prague BYOBs and between 2011-2017 she arranged regular VJ meetings through the community VJs in Prague. http://kinocirkus.net/
